Fairy-Bread

Today we did procedural writing. We had to write a procedure on how to make fairy-bread. Once we were happy with our writing we swapped with a partner and they had to follow our procedure and make the fairy-bread. Sometimes it was difficult to follow as some people forgot to tell us to use a knife to spread the butter (we had to use our finger!) and some just said 'put' the 100 and 1000's on the bread, so that's what we did, in a blob!

We then had to evaluate our own procedure and make the changes to the verbs, instructions or equipment that we thought necessary. Here are some photos of our shared experience. Enjoy =)

A Note to Parents and Caregivers

A big thank-you to all of those parents who have made arrangements to keep their children home tomorrow (Wednesday) or picking them up by 11am. We really appreciate the opportunity to pay our respects to our much loved caretaker Russell Wallace .
If you haven't recieved the notice (still in the bottom of someones bag) please feel free to hold on to your child for the day, otherwise someone will be here to supervise them in our room.
The funeral is at OLOL School.

League Fans in Fearless Four!

"Go The Tigers!", Miss K yelled.

"No, Go the Warriors!", exclaimed Trey and Jackson together.

Tonight the NRL NZ Warriors play The West Tigers. We will be watching and cheering for our teams. Miss K and Trey dressed up in support of their favourites today. Jackson forgot lol but made sure that EVERYONE knew who he will be cheering for. . .Warriors!

Westpac Rescue Helicopter Pilot and Frank Bunce

The legendary ex-All Black, Frank Bunce came to talk Te Awawaru and all the Year 5/6 children today. He was awesome and our students asked some excellent questions, tumeke!!

IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER

Parent/Teachers Conferences Tuesday and Wednesday 27th March

Easter Friday 29th March. School closed Friday, Monday and Tuesday.

Marae Visit Week 11.

Meet the Teacher’ Picnic/BBQ” this Thursday 21st February 5:30-7pm.

Week Three Feb 18th: Sealord Swimming starts this week! Monday and Thursday. Bring togs every day as there will be opportunities at school and Lido to swim.

BIKE SAFETY

Bike Safety: All of this week and part of next, Constable Emily McMellon is in our class doing a bike safety unit. We will need to bring our bikes starting tomorrow. We can store bikes in our back room if necessary. If your child does not have a bike, Constable Emily has a few bikes she can loan. Children will need to bring their bike helmets (with or without their bikes).

TEACHER ONLY DAY : This Friday 15th June

CAMP EL RANCHO: We are off to camp next Wednesday 9th May and return to school on Friday 11th. There will be notices coming home to remind everyone of arrival and departure times.

Marae Visit Friday 23rd March $4 per child and help needed for transport and support on Marae.

Relay for Camp Monday 26th March: Students have been given a notice and a sponcership form for this. All the money they raise goes straight towards their individual camp fee. It will be a fun day.

Camp Market: Tuesday 3rd April at Lunch Time. Students and parents will have an organised market to raise funds towards camp. Money will go into 'the pot' to help stread the cost of camp.

Camp: Rooms 4, 9, 15/16. Wednesday May 9th-11th. Camp El Rancho
