Year 6 Graduation

Fearless Four Year 6 at their graduation. The Spiers Center 13th December.
What a fantastic night!! I was soooooo proud of our Year 6 children, the way that they sang and stood in front of the audience with heads held high. They are an amazing bunch of children. Especially proud of Grace (Year 6 Speech), Jackson (Class Speech) and Ellie for a beautiful introduction (I am one vey lucky teacher).
Well done all of you!!!!

SPLASH PLANET 2012

What a fabulous day at Splash Planet! 29 degrees, no rain and overcast for most of the day. Thank you to all the awesome parents who came and helped us out, we hope you all enjoyed the day as much as we did. Here are a few photos I downloaded as soon as I got home (after I dried off from the torrential rain!). We will post some more at a later stage.

Angry Birds!

Through the winter months it was a wee bit chilly on road patrol. Miss K bought us some ear muffs so that we stayed warm and looked cool. We had a lot of comments from passing motorists and pedestrians, it was nice to see that we put a smile on their faces during the dreary weather.

Calendar Art

This year we did our calendar art using gecko models. Earlier in the term we had a visit from Chelsea's dad, Rick, who breeds gecko and skinks for DOC (see in an earlier post). We used those gecko for inspiration and included Maori visual art patterns (Endangered NZ Gecko). We use pastel and Indian Ink as our medium. The Indian Ink was difficult to use as we had to master a brush to get the right lines and thickness. We had to blend our pastels and think about contrasting and complimentary colours to make sure that our gecko stood out from the background. Our backgrounds were made by using paint and Glad-wrap.
You can view our calendar art in a clearfile at the school office.
An order form has already been sent home (calendars are $12 but you can also order cards and diaries). If you need another order form let Miss K know. These are great calendars as they have all of the school term times as well as NZ holidays etc. This is a fundraiser for the PTA.

Basketball FinalsCNS faced off against St James

CNS faced off against St James in the finals for basketball. It was an exciting game and our team played like pro's! There was a huge turnout of supporters from parents, teachers and whanau, they even brought out the pom-poms!
In the last few minutes, it was down to the wire, we were equal with St James! Unfortunately during extra time they scored and beat us by one basket. Well done to our team; a fantastic season and we are all very proud of you all. We have five, out of the eight players in the team, in Fearless Four. Congratulations Billie, Jackson, Esther, Angelo and Taihana! A lot of time and hard work was put into getting this team to finals, both by the kids and their coach. A BIG thanks to the wonderful coach, Mr Marshall!
